The Germans put an 88mm gun on a tank destroyer as soon as they had the technology to do so. The Nashorn was not the only tank destroying vehicle to have this weapon, but the other was seen as unreliable. It first started being used in the middle of 1943, thus it saw a lot of battles during the war. When it entered the war it was able to take out anything that the allied forced could throw at it from a long range. The design was based upon the chassis of the Panzer II and the Panzer IV. It could move fairly quickly and was a reliable vehicle to use during combat. Unfortunately it had a very thin armor and an exposed top, thus the reason why it is so low on our list.
