The "Thunderbolt" fighter plane or the "Jug" was a tough and versatile aircraft. The nickname "Jug" was attributed to the shape of the fuselage, which was rather barrel-like and ungraceful. This heavy plane could accommodate a number of engine variants and built for carrying 8 .50 caliber guns that could shed armor. The Thunderbolt is a platform used for finding and hunting V2 rockets and Me 262 jet planes. At the same time the Jug can carry out ground attacks and successfully did so. It targeted docked ships and factories. It did not end there because it was also effectively used in dogfighting. Thus durable linebacker was quite adept at high altitude dog fights but it was not as great at low and mid- altitudes. This setback is the only reason why it is not given a higher rank in this list.
