The Supermarine Spitfire was the pride and joy of the British Air Force. During the Second World War, its battles against the Bf 109 were legendary and made it to the annals of the fighting designs that characterized the UK and Germany. This plane was nimble during dogfights. But it also secured itself in the heart of the British because of its good looks. It was instrumental in the triumph over the Stuka led German invasion along with the Hawker Hurricane. The Spitfire was effective at stopping the dive bombers and fighters that came during the Battle of Britain. The sea-bound version could turn like a Japanese zero but it was durable and had muscle backing it up.
