Popular as Delta Force, the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta is a highly versatile Special Operations Force of the United States Army. It is specialized in counter-terrorism, hostage raids and rescues, and various naval intervention tasks. Almost every operation undertaken by this 'Special Mission Unit' is kept secret due to various reasons. To become part of this elite force, one must be at physical and mental peak as the initial exams include sit ups, push ups, 3 mile run, 18 mile hike with 35 bound backpack with no map and 45 mile hike with 45 pound backpack all of which have time limits set on them to weed out the weak. Of course miscellaneous mental exams to put the soldiers under stressful situations are also required to enter the 6 month special forces training program.
