Every time Bowen runs, he holds a Vietnam POW/MIA flag. That's why he got the nickname "Flagman". His mission composed of over 50 marathons, ~30 crims and over 20 Grand Rapids River Bank Runs and numerous road competitions all over the country. In addition to the mission he also jogged through the Flushing Park. Despite hindrances due to health problems and knee surgery issues he was not discouraged and even cancer did not stop him from finishing the mission. I wonder how many shoes he had to use :).

Sgt. Paul Cusack, an Army Ranger at Joint Lewis-McChord gets a medal for valor and bravery outside his service in battlefield. But still his experience last April was similar to a war zone. During the marathon held in Boston, about at the finish line, two pressure- cooler bombs exploded and rocked the crowd. Suddenly the street was jam-packed with wounded and injured people, some lost their body parts and were all shocked. Sgt. Paul Cusack, with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment had just reached the 26.2 mile race. With his instinct and readiness, he immediately ran toward the scene and helped the wounded and bombing incident victims instead of securing his own safety. He helped in giving the victims first aid and calming down the people and getting them out from the scene and bringing them to a safe place. "He worked and moved quickly as much as possible to save many lives" said Piek. For his heroism, the Army will award Sgt. Cusack a Soldier's Medal at a ceremony at JBLM.

After all the tragedy that went on in the Boston Marathon bombings, these veterans give some hope that things can actually go back to normal afterwards. This video was created by a group of Virginia-based veterans called Shoulder 2 Shoulder, as a way of helping Boston Marathon victims get through the pain. Watch as these veterans give the victims advice on how they can move on with their lives and that things will eventually go back to normal again. We extend our thanks to them for everything they do! On April 15th, 2013 James Costello was at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. He was right near where the explosions occurred with friends from his childhood. Both his arms and legs were burned so badly that they had to use pig skin to help the areas heal. He said on his Facebook wall that even though it was a horrible day for him that it has led to happiness. James proposed to his wife while they were traveling in Europe for survivors of bombings. The two met because of this tragic event, and the trip seemed like the best way to begin their shared life together. James proposed in Lyon, France. aaaaah :). The bombing at the Boston Marathon was a horrible occurrence, but there is still something beautiful that came from it. It goes to show you that not all things in our lives are black and white and that in the end there can be beauty.
